ABOUT ME
Growing up, my mom instilled the travel bug within me and after my first venture outside of my little suburban town, I couldn't rid of it. From the many US states we went to in attempt to hit all 50 to our spontaneous 4-day weekend trips across the Atlantic, we hopped aboard a plane whenever the opportunity arose.
Once it was acceptable to travel on my own, I jetted off to Costa Rica with a group of what were at first strangers for a week long service trip. And (although cliché), in those days spent huddled under mosquito nets in the jungle, I realized what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was going to combine my love for travel and my desire to make an impact on people, using the Rustic Pathways organization as my first gateway. This new ambition took me across the Pacific to the Fijian Islands and then on a 48 hour journey to rural Thailand where I met people and saw things I had never imagined seeing all before the age of 18.
Years later, after graduating college and working a 9-5, I decided to uproot my life and return to Thailand to become an English teacher in a local secondary school. I spent 2023 falling in love with the chaos of Southeast Asia and re-discovering parts of myself I'd lost while behind a desk at my office job. After my teaching contract was up, I knew that I wasn't ready to move back Stateside anytime soon. So, one approved work and holiday visa later, I landed in Australia where I'm planning to be for the next 1-2 years (but who's to say!)
After many years of travelling, I created this blog for two main reasons. First, I want to share my favorite travel experiences, praised restaurants, stumbled-upon sights, and unique places to stay. Second, I want to prove that the world is not as scary of a place as people believe it to be and is instead a place meant to be explored, whether alone, with your best friends, or a group of strangers. I hope this blog inspires even just one person to do as one of my favorite quotes says. "Buy the ticket. Take the ride."
