PRAGUE? CZECH ✓

HOW TO GET THERE

From Budapest, we decided to take an overnight bus to Prague on Rejiojet which took about 6 hours. This was certainly not the smoothest nor comfiest ride of my life but was cost efficient and pretty easy to book/navigate! It landed us in Prague super early though which was the only inconvenient thing as we were unable to check into our Airbnb until the afternoon. The Airbnb host was nice enough to let us drop our bags and we walked around Budapest/ sat in a café trying to stay warm until we could check in.

WHERE TO STAY

This Airbnb was super spacious, clean, and centrally located.

WHAT TO DO

If you walk in the main square of Prague, you can’t miss the astronomical clock which has a show on the hour which is cool to see.

The Charles Bridge is the main bridge which can be used to get to the other side of the river. It usually has street musicians and vendors selling souvenirs.

The John Lennon Wall is a tribute to the hero for pacifist youths during the totalitarian era and a representation of free speech. The wall is now covered with political graffiti and Beatles lyrics.

Prague Castle is located at the top of a hill but worth the hike as you can walk around the grounds, stop by the cute food and souvenir vendors, and get a great view of the city.

WHAT TO EAT

The most popular sweet treat here is trdelnik (chimney cake) which is rolled dough wrapped around a cylinder, covered in sugar, and filled with chocolate or ice cream!

Bakeshop is a great spot for breakfast/brunch! It has a variety of baked goods, eggs/omelets, coffee, and other treats! It’s located close to Old Town Square, which is convenient if you want to grab a bite before exploring the area.

Mistral Café is a cute little spot for lunch with great vegetarian options. The atmosphere, food, and prices all make it worth a stop!

And of course, I can’t write a section about food without including a Mexican restaurant. Las Adelitas is located close to the main square and will provide you with your much needed margs and guac.

WHERE TO DRINK

Drunken Monkey Pub Crawl: Everyone who recommended this to me wrote that this always ends badly but is so much fun and I can attest to that. For a price of about $20 you get an hour-ish long open bar (beer, shots, or shooters) and then free admission to 2 more clubs with a welcome shot at each. It’s filled with tourists/backpackers and is a fun way to meet people.

Letna Beer Garden: This beer garden is located at the top of the hill in Letna Park. It’s kind of a hike up but definitely worth it. You can buy cheap beer (Pilsner preferred) and take a seat at the wooden picnic tables that overlook the entire city.

Beer Museum: For those who aren’t a huge fan of museums, this is the perfect one for you. It’s just beer, no museum. Order a flight of beer (or two), listen to the live music, and hang out in this fun little pub (and call it a cultural experience!)
